Lacy Fund
The Lacy Fund was started in 1999 after a client came to Hope Animal Medical Center with his beloved pet “Lacy” who was hit by a car and had broken two legs (one front and one back). A decision was made to put Lacy to sleep as a result of her injuries. While resting comfortably awaiting her unknown fate, to the amazement of the doctors and staff, Lacy got up, balanced herself, and began hobbling her way around the treatment area into the pharmacy.
After witnessing her sheer determination to live, Dr. Hope decided, with the client’s permission, she would do whatever was necessary to save this brave little dog. The clinic absorbed the cost of all treatment to give Lacy a new lease on life! And thus, the legacy of the Lacy Fund began.
Contributions to the Lacy Fund are gratefully accepted and deposited into a special account and are used at our doctor’s discretion to provide financial assistance for existing clients and their pets that are experiencing extreme cases such as Lacy’s. Hope Animal Medical Center also contributes $5.00 to the Lacy Fund in memory of each of our client pets who pass away.
With lots of treatment and loving care, Lacy went on to live a very happy, normal life with her family. Lacy reached the end of her long life and passed away in October of 2009 at the age of 15½!
